“JUST THE FACTS SEPTEMBER, 2008 NEWSLETTER”
Personal Notes
I knew that my return from the second part of my sabbatical would be hectic – with the departure of Jackie, parishioners “left” in Houston hospitals and the empty office for two weeks – so I thoroughly enjoyed the National Prairie Conference in Winoma, MN and seeing prairies in MN,WS,N.D.,S.D. and Iowa! Perhaps my “hectic” awareness was the reason for the unsought Senior Citizen Discount not only at the Iowa State Fair but wherever I encountered a cashier in front of me!
Anyway, I did enjoy my sabbatical and learned a lot. In the near future, I will share my learnings, bore you with pictures and relate it all to our Nash Prairie. I am grateful to you for allowing me to do this. I know Debbie Burns carried a big load (especially in dealing with the Memorial Service for John Thayer) and I give her a “big thanks!”
I also want to thank you for adjusting so well with the changes that has taken place. From your acceptance of the Vestry’s decision to “go green” with ceramic coffee mugs to the change in the pew bulletin format, you have shown your flexibility and willingness to be a re-creation.
Office Notes
Unless there is an emergency, I will be at the office at least four mornings a week – Tuesday through Friday. Monday will remain my day off and I ask you to help me keep it as my day off. I will keep you informed in the pew bulletin if I know I must be out of the office for a meeting that week. This month, I will be at Camp Allen from Sept. 19-21 (Companions Fall Meeting) and in Austin from Sept. 23 -24 (at the Seminary for the Blandy Lectures). If there is an emergency, call me at the office or at home and I will respond. When I am out of town and you have an emergency, call Debbie Burns, the Senior Warden.

Help Needed
You should have received a statement of your donations from January to July, 2008. Please check it to see if it is accurate. In October, all of our book keeping will be done by First Capital Business Services (another change!) and Cecile wants to give them an accurate ledger. If you find any discrepancies, let her know ASAP.
Final Blessing
Thanks for reading all this!
Peace, Peter
